Game Overview:

This was the first game in the series. Originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in America, and the Famicon in Japan. It introduced the overhead 2-D style and was the first ever game cartridge on which you were able to save your game data. It was the first game to mention Link and Zelda and Ganon (back then the correct spelling was Gannon) and other memorable characters.

The overall crowd rating of this game soared through the roof. As the first game in the series, this game introduced a whole new world of gameplay for Nintendo fans. The original game featured dungeons; and there was a special second quest that you could unlock by either beating the game or entering ZELDA as your name in the beginning of the game. The second quest featured completely redesigned dungeons and dungeon locations.

The game in itself is a classic, even without the games that came after it. It reappeared recently in a four-game bonus disc you got when your ordered a subscription to Nintendo Power magazine. It also surfaced as a Game Boy Advance game, as one of the NES Classics. This game was one of the greatest games ever created, and will never be forgotten, no matter how far the Legend of Zelda series evolves.
