Game Review:

I am judging The Legend of Zelda on how it looked back when it was released, not how it looks compared to recent games of any sort.

Overall Score: 8.2

Gameplay: 8
I gave the Legend of Zelda an eight in gameplay because it is just such a great game. One of our writers tells a story about how, when he was little, him and his dad used to go down their basement almost everyday after dinner and play this game. They played all the way through this game many times. And they knew every nook and cranny of Hyrule; every secret and special thing that existed in the game. They loved this game and it remains today as their favorite game. This game caused people to do that. It provided hours and hours of fun, and it could be played over and over again. The only problem was that it was kind of easy. Both missions, the first one and the bonus one, were not very hard at all. With only a few hours each night, the boy and his father were able to finish each quest in about a week, give or take a few days.

Graphics: 9
I gave the graphics of this game a nine because these were top of the line graphics, I mean there were no games with better graphics ever created for the NES. Although they look like blocks of color to us now, all of those blocks created a stunning picture that only a Legend of Zelda game could portray. It looked very good then, and although it looks bad now, these were very good graphics.

Difficulty: 7
I gave the difficulty of this game a seven because it is really not that hard. I could beat this game in less than a week if you gave me a few hours each night. This game was made in the early days of Nintendo, so they did not try to make it very hard. This was just a start-up game and it did a good job at getting most players hooked. Although it wasn't very hard, it was good, and that beats everything.

Addictiveness: 8
This game deserves every bit of time spent on it. Hour after hour, people would pour their heart and soul into finding everything in this game. Every time you turn a corner, you find something new. It kept you going for hours on end. I know from experience how addicting it is. The only reason it didn't get a ten is because it was so easy. You would beat it and then stop playing, thinking you had finished everything. But really it was just the beginning, but the way Nintendo set the game up, it made you think you were finished. But honestly, it should have gotten a ten (great games have great replay values).

Viewer Response: 9
This game cartridge sold like hotcakes on a Sunday morning. Literally, this game sold more copies in one year than most games sell in forever. The crowd went nuts and consumed Miyamoto's new game. But what the gamers really saw was not a bunch of blocks of color like some of us may see today, but the best puzzle/adventure game ever created. They loved the game and because of the viewer response of this game, Nintendo continued to make the following Zelda games, which we continue to enjoy to this day.
