Musical Affiliates

Well... make whatever you want of the title.

Two new things for today. First off: I have gone through the affiliates list and cleaned out the dead links, as well as added one new affiliate. Nintendo Extreme is a growing website dedicated to all things Nintendo, specifically Mario. They have a very sleek layout and look quite promise. Feel free to drop in.

Second: a very special, talented, fan of Zelda Capital has used some of Zelda Capital's sheet music to create a piano medly of Zelda, Mario, and Megan Man music. Check out the links to the YouTube videos on our Sheet Music page.

That's all for today. Sorry for the recent inactivity. However, the forums are quite active (which is... odd).

P.S. I have NO idea what a musical affiliate is.

Earlier than expected, I am back. I am still catching up on missed news - both large and community wide - so give me some time. Not much was posted while I was gone, and the forums are pretty much dead. I'll get on top of that.

Nothing new has happened to Zelda Capital except for our two new affiliates: Realms of Hyrule and Zelda Fan Game Central. Be sure to give them a visit. I'll try to update tomorrow with new stuff.

But getting there. I have decided to stay at my camp for four more weeks, meaning I will be coming back on August 17th. This will be my first and last chance to update until then so I just want to quick say hi and let you know I'm still alive.

Nothing much is going on that hasn't been covered in the news. The legendary Zelda Power has a new layout, that is very nice, very green . We also have four new Did You Know? facts, submitted by Clark that are worth checking out. Finally, we have one new affiliate: Zelda Portal. They are a site that focuses on compiling a list of the many Zelda sites online nowadays and even reviewing many of them. They are very interesting and original and are worth a visit.

That's all I have for now. I hope you guys have a fun rest of the summer. I will be back in four weeks. Later.

E3 2008: Miyamoto Confirms Wii and DS Zelda in Development

Although there was no real confirmation of a new Zelda title at Nintendo's E3 Conference this year, IGN sat down with Shigeru Miyamoto and asked him some questions concerning Zelda's future.

"The Zelda team in particular always works on Zelda titles. The core members of the Zelda team have for a very long time now been focused on Zelda games, and continue to focus on Zelda games, so they are hard at work and working away," Miyamoto said. "And then, of course, we have the DS Zelda team as well, so even there we're having some switching of people in and out where the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version."

"I don't necessarily think it will change that drastically, but I think that Zelda is a franchise that does need some big new unique ideas," he said. "And so the team right now is very focused on trying to find those ideas."

He also suggested that there will be some unique fundamental changes to the series. What are they? We'll have to wait and see.

[Source: IGN]

Goodbye For Now...

As many of you probably know, I have a busy summer planned, and will be without computer access for the next couple of weeks.

Have no fear, though, for I have arranged for the site to remain updated, especially during E3 2008 (July 15-17). All of the latest news will be covered here at Zelda Capital, as it always has been in the past, and I will be sure to cover anything missed when I return (around July 20th). While I am away, all news will be handled by Zeypherlink, webmaster of Zelda Adventures (home of a brand new layout), and Last Hylian, staff member of Exploding Deku Nut. The forums will be managed by 56K Warning, so no worries there.

I hope all of you have a fine summer, and I will miss Zelda Capital during my 4+ week brake. Try to keep Zeypherlink in line . See you in a few weeks.

Also, commenting has been reopened. Unfortunately, because I could not get the anti-spam system to work, I have had to limit commenting to registered users only. To register, please click here.

To Zelda Capital Staff Members - Look for a PM on the forums letting you know all the final details.

My Summer Vacation

So where have I been? That's a good question...

Well for starters, the site isn't dead. That's for sure. Our forums are quite active and it's a great time to join. I haven't really been working on any new content, because I have been really busy.

Why have I been so busy? I have landed a job as a couselor at a summer camp for the next three or so weeks. It was originally planned that I would be at the training week this whole week, then come back for two days, before heading off to wrestling camp, then back to summer camp for three weeks. My plans never seem to work out though. I hurt my knee wrestling a few weeks ago, and it began to swell up while I was working, and I was taken to the emergency room to have it drained. I am now bedridden for a few days, so I have time to update, and get things ready for my weeks away.

The site is being watched over by two good friends of mine, the news will be handled by Zelda Adventures webmaster Zeypherlink (the time I am gone, E3 takes place, so he will update with all of the latest news), and the forums will be watched over by 56K Warning. I expect the site to remain active and will open the comments back up soon enough.

Depending on what the doctors tell me about my knee, I may or may not be here for another week, and I may end up being gone longer then expected, but that is not likely. So enjoy the new leadership while it lasts.

I'll try to update one last time before I leave.

Music, Hearts, and More

I hope everyone likes the new layout. I have been ironing out some of the code on my end, and fixing some pages on yours.

While I was busy doing that, our staff and fans have been working on new content to go with the new site. The first thing we have is acutally a fix. A fan by the name of Donny notified me of the fact that one of our music PDFs was missing, and I looked into it and found about six others also missing. I have fixed all those and they can be viewed on our sheet music page.

Second is a nice heart container guide for Phantom Hourglass written by Fierce Deity Link. Each container is clearly defined as well as how to obtain it.

Finally, we have four new Did You Know? facts, two submitted by Princess Zelda and the other two by Riley.

Enjoy!

Edit: commenting has been disabled due to spam. It shouldn't be this way for much longer, I just have to install an anti-spam system. I'll post when this problem is solved.

Welcome to Version Six

Welcome to Zelda Capital Version Six. Loosely based on Majora’s Mask, this layout, in my opinion anyway, is a large leap forward visually from version five. I know I usually release a whole bunch of new features with each new layout, but this time I have actually gotten rid of some.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The major one: the forum integration. It just didn’t serve the purpose that I had thought it would. All of the forum scripts have been removed from the main website, including the news we were using. I have switched back to CuteNews in order to give all of those people that aren’t registered on the forums the ability to post comments. The news template is also much more customizable, which I will be fixing up in the near future.

Another cool feature of using CuteNews is the ability to use RSS. RSS is a very simple way to keep up-to-date with all of the news posted on Zelda Capital. You can view our RSS feed page here.

Each page is also smaller in size. This means faster loading times, and more bandwidth for us. The images are no longer large PNG files, but are now smaller, more compact, JPG files. The quality is relatively the same, and no one will notice the difference. On the subject of size, the content area of version six is much bigger compared to that of version five, allowing for smaller pages and more text.

On the terms of new content, we have a wonderfully done walkthrough for Ocarina of Time from Fierce Deity Link. Check that out on our Ocarina of Time page.

The release of this layout also marks a very special occasion: Zelda Capital’s second anniversary. Our actual birthday was last Thursday, May 22nd. This is a great honor, and many sites probably never reach this point. I owe thanks to everyone really. Zeypherlink: for all your site/forum help and feedback. 56K: for your opinions and help with the forums and main site. My cousin geck0killer: for your ideas and photoshop demos. LastHylian: for your help with CuteNews. And Princess Zelda: for keeping the Zelda Capital Forums alive.

So I hope you enjoy the new layout. Before I finish though I need to give a very very large thanks to Chance from LoZ.com. This layout would not look nearly as good as it does if not for his help. A lot of the styling came from Chance and his ideas, and the navigation links were done completely by Chance. So if you see him around, be sure to give him a thanks.

Again, I am very proud of Zelda Capital and all that has come with it, and let me say that it has been a fun two years. Hopefully we’ll be around for much longer.

Enjoy the layout.

In other news, our good friends Zelda Dungeon have a beautiful new layout. Please go drop them a visit.

EDIT - Oh how I hate GoDaddy. Sorry for the downtime everybody. I don't know how long the site was down, as I just saw it around four o'clock when I got home from school, but apparently the whole GoDaddy site was down as well. Hopefully this won't happen again.
