Little is
known about the Book of Mudora, but what is known is that the book is
a book of legends and myths written down by ancient sages who devoted
their lives to protecting the Sacred Realm and the Golden Power, the Triforce.
Although most of what makes up the Book of Mudora is stories, there are
also verses, but, unfortunately, there are only a few verses known to
mortals. There are also many prophecies in the Book of Mudora. Some cannot
distinguish between a verse and a prophecy, so they are in no special
order. There are also a few inscriptions here and there, so just pretend
they are all form the Book of Mudora. Here are a some of those verses
and prophecies:
In a Realm beyond sight,
The sky shines gold not blue.
There, the Triforce's might
Makes mortal dreams come true.
If you would seek the
sacred triangle, listen well. The resting place of the sacred triangle,
the Sacred Realm, is a mirror that reflects what is in the heart, the
heart of the one who enters it. If an evil heart, the Realm will become
full of evil; if pure, the Realm will become a paradise. The Triforce...the
sacred triangle... it is a balance that weighs the three forces: Power,
Wisdom, and Courage. If the heart of the one who holds the sacred triangle
has all three forces in balance, that one will gain the True Force to
govern all. But if that one's heart is not in balance, the Triforce
will separate into three parts: Power, Wisdom, and Courage. Only one
part will remain for the one who touched the Triforce...the part representing
the force that that one most believes in. If that one seeks the True
Force, that one must acquire the two lost parts. Those two parts will
be held within others chosen by destiny, who will bear the Triforce
mark on the back of their hands.
"When shadows fall
on Hyrule, a hero shall appear..."
"The three triangles
on your left hand symbolize power, wisdom, and courage-- these are the
marks of the hero who is fated to appear when peace crumbles in Hyrule."
"If one of impure
heart gains the powers of shadow... the world will be covered in darkness."
Far beneath the waves
A land cries out for freedom
Our hero answers
Distant island shores
Where creatures both fair and foul lurk
Waiting to be found
Heroes quickly learn
All that glimmers is not gold
It is much better
If a person who has an
evil heart gets the Triforce, a Hero is destined to appear, and he alone
must face the person who began the Great Cataclysm. If the evil one
destroys the hero, nothing can save the world from his wicked reign.
Only a person of the Knights of Hyrule, who protected the royalty of
Hylia, can become the Hero.
The Hero's triumph on
Cataclysm's Eve
Wins three symbols of virtue.
The Master Sword he will then retrieve,
Keeping the Knight's line true.
When evil rules all,
an awakening voice from the Sacred Realm will call those destined to
be Sages, who dwell in the five temples... Together with the Hero of
Time, the awakened ones will bind the evil ad return the light of peace
to the world.
I sense something is
happening in the Golden Land the seven wise men sealed... This must
be an omen of the Great Cataclysm foretold by the people of Hylian blood...
The prophecy says, "The Hero will stand in the desert holding the
Book of Mudora."
And I saw that a Great
Cloud did cover the Land, and all was laid to Ruin, and from the Uttermost
West did a Black Fog seep, and everything that it touched was made Poison.
But a Great Light did shine from the Forest and did drive back the Darkness.
And the Light did come forth, and it was a Man who did bear a Green
and Shining Stone, and he was guided by a Spirit of Faërie.
...One shall come from the Desert of the West, and he shall be Flame,
and at his Touch shall the Land Wither and Die. He shall follow the
Path of Din, and upon the Golden Land shall he make War most Bitter,
and the Gate shall Crumble at his Passing. He shall cause the Dead to
Rise Up and Wander, and the Holy Places shall be made Low. And his Name
shall be Mandrag Ganon, and he shall be the King of Thieves.
...A time will come when Nayru and Farore shall upon Each Other wage
War, and at this time shall the Flame of Din awaken from his ancient
sleep, and Dark Things shall stir in the Golden Land. And the One who
was First shall shed Innocent Blood, and the Golden Land shall become
Black and Withered, and in this Dark World shall there live no Hope
nor Light, for this shall be the End of all Things.
There is One who plans to ruin Hyrule,
Of his plans, e'en the King will be fooled.
But two shall be chosen by Destiny's hand
And they shall be those who will rescue the land.
Only those who have been felt the power
of Evil and have been held hostage by it
firsthand can know the true nature of the
Evil magic and help the Heroes of legend.
Dark futures linger delicately
upon the world
The deluge of Blackness shall very few spare
An Evil forgotten shall inevitably arise
And even the Justice raining from on high
Can only prolong the wait before the End
Yet verily, the very nature of Hyrule is Balance
For in dark days, great evil brings great hope
Though the Fate of the world shall be tested
Courage and Wisdom will unite once more.
Heat without fire and chill without ice
The scorned plague of old shall be their new vice
The hopes of many shall soon become naught
For the razing of homes will come of this draught
Blood shall be spent, repaid to the drop
Beauty again found in making hearts stop
The verdict of the past the Fates will retract
An alliance with evil will be its new pact
So let the next days be filled with sorrow
Let Ganondorf come, The Bringer of Woe.
Ahead in the future, four Heroes of Time from now
A Great Cataclysm shall arise from forgotten evil
Darkness shall verily descend over the land
Through a source seeming good-natured
A hope however will remain within a young boy
A triumph over evil he shall bring to his land.
The next verse is an inscription
made on the Desert Temple's door in A Link to the Past:
To open the way forward
Make your wish here
And it will be granted.
If one of impure heart
gains the powers of shadow
this world will be covered in darkness.
In this year, we are bound together.
The future of our peoples shall be forever bright.
May The Golden Spirit bind us all in prosperity.
